Open Date: 09/11/09 Close Date: Department: Sterile Processing Position: Sterile Processing Tech Duty Hours: FT 2nd Shift 3p-11:30p plus on-call Requirements: Certification eligible. High School Education or GED equivalent Sterile Processing Technician must be able to perform all duties independently. Completion of one year employment in SPD, successful completion of a related allied health program Six months experience in practicing SPD, completion of Central Service Training Course with passing score of 70% Completion of National Level Certification after (1) year One year Central Sterile Supply/Sterile Processing or Operating Room experience preferred but not required. Position Responsibilities: Decontaminates reusable medical supplies and equipment, using appropriate methods. Disassembles, clean, sterilize, and reassemble equipment. Inspects items for gross contamination after pre-sterilization. Packages items to protect points, cutting edges, and delicate instruments. Fills requests for items based on daily schedules or on individual requisitions. Performs periodic inspections as directed by scheduled cyclic maintenance program Assists in the inventory of patient care charges.
