To register for a specialty class, please note the following general information:
JSMC employees (FTE, PT, PRN, ASC) will be required to complete a Specialty Class VOUCHER for the following educational offerings: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), S.T.A.B.L.E. Program, Basic Arrhythmia (BA), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), and the Critical Care Course (CCC).
An employee must receive prior approval from her/his department director/manager before registering for a specialty class.
Physicians and their office staff, contract employees, and non-employees will be required to pay a fee for the following specialty classes: ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, BA, TNCC, & CCC.
Upon registering for ACLS and/or PALS, the class participant must provide verification that she/he is current in BLS.
Instructions for JSMC Employees:
1. An employee must have completed her/his 90-day probationary period before registering for ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, BA, TNCC, and/or CCC.
2. An employee may attend BLS regardless of probation period.
3. The availability of seats in each class will be based on a first-come, first-serve basis.
4. To register for a class, the employee must complete a Specialty Class VOUCHER, which can be obtained in the JSMC Education Department or by CLICKING HERE.One voucher must be completed for each specialty class registration made by the employee.
5. The employee must then bring the Voucher to the JSMC Education Department to complete the registration process and receive a student letter, student manual, and class material(s).
6. The student manual must be returned in good condition at the completion of the class to avoid a specified payroll deduction authorized by the specialty class voucher.
7. If the employee would like to purchase the student manual to keep, she/he will pay the cost of the manual at the cashier’s window and bring the receipt to the Education Department.
8. If the employee must cancel her/his class registration, she/he must notify the JSMC Education Department within 48 hours of the start of the class.If the employee does not notify the Education Department that she/he cannot attend the class, the class fee will be payroll deducted from the employee’s paycheck.Additionally, if she/he cannot attend the class, the employee must call the Education Department in order to reserve a seat in the next available class.
9. The Education Department reserves the right to cancel any specialty class due to lack of participation.Employees registered to attend, will be notified in a timely manner of the cancellation and will be moved to the next available class.
Instructions for Physicians, Physician Office Staff Personnel, JSMC Contract Staff, and Non-Employees:
1. To register for a class, the participant must pay the class fee at the cashier’s window.Then bring the receipt to the Education Department to complete the registration process and receive a student letter, student manual, and class material.
2. If the participant must cancel her/his class registration, she/he must notify the JSMC Education Department within 48 hours of the start of the class in order to reserve a seat in the next available class and avoid paying the class fee again.
3. The Education Department reserves the right to cancel any specialty class due to lack of participation. Participants will be notified in a timely manner of the cancellation and will be moved to the next available class or will be refunded the class fee.
