JSMC enhances Emergency Department physician staffing

HOPKINSVILLE—Jennie Stuart Medical Center has contracted with Align MD, Clarksville, Tenn., to staff the Emergency Department (ED). Also, the hospital has named Andrzej Dmowski, MD, assistant medical director of the ED. Dr. Dmowski is employed by that firm as is Randall Ellis, MD, who joined JSMC earlier this year as medical director of the ED.
“The physicians of Align MD understand the improvements we are making across Jennie Stuart in quality care and customer service, and it’s a pleasure to have this highly respected physician group as our clinical partner for emergency services,” Beth McCraw, APRN, vice president, JSMC Nursing Services, says.
In addition, JSMC has contracted for the services of three orthopedic surgeons to help provide weekend coverage in the ED for the treatment of broken bones and other orthopedic injuries. They are Timothy Chang, MD, PhD; David Doman, MD; and Kurtis Kowalski, MD. Drs. Chang and Doman are full-time orthopedic specialists at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell. Dr. Kowalski also was at Blanchfield and is now in private practice in Clarksville, Tenn.
Earlier this month, Cong. Ed Whitfield (1st District, Ky.) toured the ED and said he was impressed with the revamped services, part of what he called, “A top-quality, healthcare delivery system.”
The ED is Jennie Stuart’s busiest medical department, treating more than 32,000 patients per year.
