JSMC lab earns reaccreditation
July 20, 2012
HOPKINSVILLE—The College of American Pathologists (CAP) has reaccredited the Laboratory at Jennie Stuart Medical Center for an additional two years. Earlier this summer, CAP conducted an on-site inspection of lab records and quality control procedures over the prior two years. Inspectors examined lab staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
“Inspectors recognized us for the excellence of services we provide. We’re honored, but not surprised,” Mike Stokes, director, Laboratory says.
“The attention to detail by the staff is outstanding, and the CAP inspectors recognized this,” William Farthing, MD, pathologist and medical director, Laboratory, says.
Accredited by the CAP since 1980, the central lab at JSMC serves patients, physicians and other clients from seven counties from the hospital and two Express Lab locations—at JSMC’s Eagle Way Campus, Hopkinsville, and GuthrieMD, a family medicine physician practice that opened on July 2 in Guthrie.
JSMC is a private, not-for-profit health organization that includes an acute-care medical center; free-standing outpatient surgery, medical imaging, laboratory, and rehabilitation services; and an integrated physician network. For information, call
