|  | Our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 16 bed state of the art step down unit. Our nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and have each attended basic arrhtymia courses. All of our rooms are private as well as very roomy for your comfort. Each room is equipped with telemetry or hardwire ECG, pulse osimetry, and NIBP. Telemetry units are placed on patients that require monitoring while ambulatory, and hardwire ECG is placed on most patients confined to the bed. PCU encompasses the care of patients within the full health/illness continuum. Each patient has individualized care ensuring quality service for each patient, family and significant other. The scope of practice includes promoting the practice of all critical care components to enhance the well-being of each patient and improve patient outcomes. We are dedicated to excellence in the delivery of care which is compassionate, patient and family centered, and consistent with the needs of our customers. Fundamental to this mission is our commitment that every patient's visit to Jennie Stuart Medical center will meet and exceed their expectations.
PCU strives to relieve suffering, increase security, promote health, and meet death with respect and dignity. Our Unit believes in the individualized care of the whole being. Included in this approach is the involvement of the patient and their significant others/supportive relationships in the development of an appropriate treatment process with the collaborative efforts of the registered nurse, physician, social worker, pastoral care, dietician, respiratory therapist, and other ancillary care providers to address key physiological and psychosocial needs. | |
